Love Me Tender

So Wonder girls got a boost in exposure by being featured (and praised!) by none other than Perez Hilton himself. Talk about lucky! And they’re not even the most talented artists in the mainstream Korean music industry. This might actually have benefits for BoA since she’s planning to debut in the US in the near future. I was really ticked off by some of the ignorant comments made on the post though. There were so many comments perpetuating stereotypes of East Asians with broken English, exoticizing East Asian women as sex objects, and just references to East Asain restaurants (as if that’s all they can succeed in, in America). Honestly, it is disgusting how much racism there still is. Anyway, I hope this exposure helps Korean artists trying to break into the American music industry. I hope that with representations from East Asians who don’t fit the stereotype of idiotic jesters that ignorance against Koreans and other East Asians (who tend to be lumped into a huge category despite their vast diversity) can diminish.

This was posted way back in October but I only saw it now. It’s so amusing.

I don’t understand what the big deal is about celebrities admitting they watch or have watched porn. Honestly, who hasn’t? And what makes people think that all those commercials, advertisement posters, billboards, music videos, and music performances AREN’T porn? Just because artists cleverly cover up certain parts of their bodies and not others doesn’t mean they aren’t also screaming “fuck me”. I think these are more sexual than “official” porn itself, although it depends on the type and genre. But really, what is the big deal? As if it’s so taboo for to people watch it when it is only a very small minority of people haven’t or don’t. Let’s just be realistic and mature about it. If a person wants to watch porn, that’s their choice. I don’t think they should be slandered because of it, like Soo Young of SNSD. Poor girl. Even though I think she’s stupid and deathly skinny, it’s not fair that people are dumbasses and blow things out of proportion. I don’t encourage people to engage in porn, but they should not be demonized for it. Anyway, that’s my two cents.

SUJU will be having their first Asia tour ever this month called the “Super Show”. Their concerts will take place in Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai, Bangkok, Taipei, Malaysia and others. The tickets for these shows will be auctioned off at 5:00 on January 22. You can read more about it here. Lucky people in those areas. I hope they appreciate how blessed they are. Btw, I was reading Pop Seoul and I found this post ridiculous. This is one of the sentences they had in the post: “No matter how pretty a girl you are, if you are not wearing the right clothes, the perfect hair and makeup, you can end up looking like a walking billboard.” Umm…how does wearing the “right” clothes with the “perfect” hair and makeup NOT make you a walking billboard? You may not be one in a literal rectangular sense but you would definately be making a statement about your fashion sense, your social class, and your monetary attainment (among other things), along with the statement that others should desire to be with you and be like you. How is that not a billboard, dumbass? Are the writers at Pop Seoul even educated or are they stupid high school students who have nothing better to do than criticize people without even having a grasp of reality? I don’t mind harsh criticism, but stupidity annoys me. Get educated!
