Love Me Tender

My fiance has gone on a trip with his best friend to Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea. I’m so jealous, but I know we will eventually go together at some point. I’m so curious to see how similar and different things are in those places than they are in the portrayals of them in dramas and animes. It would also be so great to shop there too. I find it so hard to find clothes that fit me here because of my physique, but I’m a normal body type in Japan and Korea (or at least that is what I’ve been told). I would totally save up and splurge on clothes there, especially Japan because they have such cool fashion. I’ve looked at websites for Japanese and Korean companies, but I haven’t really found any that I would actually shop from. Some aren’t for customer purchase (more for retail purchase) so there is a minimum amount that you have to pay before they will ship abroad. If I find any good sites then I’ll post them here, but so far I haven’t really found any. So sad. =(

Anyway, I hope my fiance and his friend have a good time. They’ll be backpacking around for just over two weeks. I hope they will have a very safe and enjoyable trip.

I don’t understand what the big deal is about celebrities admitting they watch or have watched porn. Honestly, who hasn’t? And what makes people think that all those commercials, advertisement posters, billboards, music videos, and music performances AREN’T porn? Just because artists cleverly cover up certain parts of their bodies and not others doesn’t mean they aren’t also screaming “fuck me”. I think these are more sexual than “official” porn itself, although it depends on the type and genre. But really, what is the big deal? As if it’s so taboo for to people watch it when it is only a very small minority of people haven’t or don’t. Let’s just be realistic and mature about it. If a person wants to watch porn, that’s their choice. I don’t think they should be slandered because of it, like Soo Young of SNSD. Poor girl. Even though I think she’s stupid and deathly skinny, it’s not fair that people are dumbasses and blow things out of proportion. I don’t encourage people to engage in porn, but they should not be demonized for it. Anyway, that’s my two cents.

I really like the music by Ready’O (a Korean band). They don’t get as much coverage as I would like to see, but that’s usually what happens to Korean artists with actual talent. Their first album is really good. I can’t understand Korean (but I can read it…struggling =D), so I can’t translate from what it says about them. But I will put up what is written in English. ^_^;

I am pleased to announce that I have invited my first set of guest bloggers to post at Love Me Tender. I have been hearing rumours for a good two years now about the an American remake of the mega hit South Korean movie, My Sassy Girl. Well it’s true and it’s finally here. It will star Jesse Bradford as Gyeon-woo and Elisa Cuthburt as the girl (Jun Ji-hyun). Do I really care? Not really. I didn’t think the original was all it was hyped up to be. I think I was the only person who thought the girl was a complete bitch, the guy was a pathetic pushover, the plot was extremely predictable, and the scene which is supposed to be the most gut wrenching and heart-warming scene (where he lists off all the things that is good about her to a guy she is on a date with) was just…ok. I did not cry for it, unlike the men sitting around me *cough*. It’s not that I didn’t like the movie, but I really did not see why it was so great.

Maybe it was significant compared to all the Korean movies that portray women as docile women waiting for a strong, rich man to take charge and sweep them off their feet. I guess My Sassy Girl can get brownie points for that, but I’d still only give it a 3/5. Anyway, I don’t have high expectations for the American version just because I didn’t think the Korean one was that great to begin with.

Have you ever watched a Korean show (usually variety shows) where they are playing, singing along to, or dancing to songs that just make you go O_O!!! Well I have. It’s amusing but at the same time you know they would be mortified if they really knew what the lyrics meant. Well, this clip reminded me of that. Don’t watch it if you want to maintain your virgin ears.
