Anti-Tiffany (SNSD) Wave

I’ve been noticing the increasing anti-Tiffany sentiment on the net (on English sites). Hmm…interesting. I’m not particularly a fan of SNSD or any of its members (although I do like the leader since she actually has singing potential), but I definitely wouldn’t call myself an anti-fan. I find the term anti-fan an oxymoron in the first place, but that’s besides the point. I don’t really see why there are so many people who hate Tiffany. There was even a recent post on ShenYuePop! that was an overtly anti-tifanny post that basically listed all the bad things about Tiffany. Seriously, woah! Most of it was just summarizing what the latest rumours about Tiffany were, but some of the personal input was quite laughable.

The article stated that SNSD are “talent challenged…who sell worthless music, labeled under “virgin” and cute unmarried girls image, contradicting it by wearing super short skirts and not hesitating the chance to reveal their panties to the world.” An oxymoron? Of course. Can the Korean music industry really sell chastity? I highly doubt it. What I don’t agree with in this article is the author’s omission of other groups. Isolating SNSD as the only group who falls into an oxymoron is just uncalled for. Most of the SM artists aren’t very talented and even if they are, the majority of their popularity is due to superb marketing and other means of buying their fame. It’s called capitalism people. Everything is done for profit and not for the sake of talent, art, or craftsmanship. SNSD is no different than any of the other SM groups-their popularity comes from selling their image. What group aren’t whoring their music? They all sell their bodies for profit. And it’s not just SM artists. Tae Yang and Wonder Girl’s new image? Whoring. It’s part of the industry. Why are some artists picked on when it is the industry and people who buy into it that are at fault?

SNSD Are Actually Popular

I just found out that someone I know loves SNSD. My first encounter with a fanboy, too! It’s so weird…not because he’s a guy, but because he actually likes them. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though. They’re more popular than I had anticipated. I think I figured they wouldn’t be as well received because of all the rumours that were circulating before their debut, especially against Jessica. Man, there were some really crazy fangirls who wanted to kill her for supposedly getting around with the SUJU & DBSK boys. I guess those really died down.

Recently it was announced that SNSD sold over 100,000 albums. I was not expecting that, especially since 8 of them can’t sing for shit. Good for them though. I don’t really like SNSD, but I have to give it to SM marketing. They really know how to sell fake artists.

This was posted way back in October but I only saw it now. It’s so amusing.

I don’t understand what the big deal is about celebrities admitting they watch or have watched porn. Honestly, who hasn’t? And what makes people think that all those commercials, advertisement posters, billboards, music videos, and music performances AREN’T porn? Just because artists cleverly cover up certain parts of their bodies and not others doesn’t mean they aren’t also screaming “fuck me”. I think these are more sexual than “official” porn itself, although it depends on the type and genre. But really, what is the big deal? As if it’s so taboo for to people watch it when it is only a very small minority of people haven’t or don’t. Let’s just be realistic and mature about it. If a person wants to watch porn, that’s their choice. I don’t think they should be slandered because of it, like Soo Young of SNSD. Poor girl. Even though I think she’s stupid and deathly skinny, it’s not fair that people are dumbasses and blow things out of proportion. I don’t encourage people to engage in porn, but they should not be demonized for it. Anyway, that’s my two cents.

April Fools Day Pranks

My sister sent me a text a couple of days ago (at 11:56am too! Four minutes to spare =P) saying that L’arc En Ciel were going to have a concert in Canada. I was so excited that it didn’t even occur to me that it could be an April Fools Day prank…and sadly it was. I was so upset to find out that it wans’t true, especially since I spent ten minutes on the net looking for their Canada tour date before she sent me another text saying it was a prank. So sad…I wish that they would come to play in Toronto. I would die happy. At least the prank made my day…until I found out it was a lie. =P

So I wasn’t the only one to get pranked. Girl’s Generation/소녀시대 leader Tae Yoen bawled her eyes out on camera when she was met with cold shoulders from her peers at her highschool where Girl’s Generation were going to perform. She later found out it was a prank. Poor girl…some of the pranks that Korean shows do are really mean. I like pranks where people get scared…like some random person jumping out from a garbage can as someone walks by. Those are funny. These are just gut wrenching. Ick! You can read the story in more detail here.

I Am A Blogging Addict

I am a blogging addict! I created this site so that I could SAVE time and I spent a good 5 hours tweaking things on here. So much for working on my 20 page paper today. Anyway, I just wanted to state that I got quite a bit done on here. Hmm…I guess I might as well post about something.

I found out the other day that Coolsmurf has a blog. Umm…w00t! And I am so ashamed to say that I thought he was a woman all this time. I’m not sure why. I think it’s because whenever I read comments left by people they would usually refer to coolsmurf as “she”. Note to self, be more aware of assumptions in the future. Sorry coolsmurf! For those of you who don’t know who coolsmurf is, he subs a lot of Korean shows on YouTube. You can find his account here. =)

Speaking of people on youtube, guess who has an account? SM Entertainment! Except on youtube they are called SMOnline They have some of their official videos on there, including the new MV from 소녀시대 (Girl’s Generation). But the MV has the original song dubbed over their voices and it is really creepy if you didn’t know that before hand. I’m speaking from personal experience. One of the videos they have up there is the taped audition of Henry Lau (a member of Super Junior China). He is le awesome. Poor kid just had to get sucked into evil SM Entertainment. I hope they don’t make him cut up his face like some of the other members. Anyway, here is the video.
