This is a pretty dated clip but I just love Tim’s voice. And this song is great. It totally melts my heart (because of the words…Tim’s voice helps too =P).What I would give to hear him sing once a week…*sigh*

Tim is going to be performing with Son Ho Yeong and No Brain on August 16 in Seoul Olympic Park. Those lucky fans. =(

Reunion of the 30-Something Artists

Sorry for the lack of posting. My trip to Asia was great. I got to have a lot of family time and spend time with my grandmother. I enjoyed it very much. Big thanks to Kazuma for posting while I was gone.

So someone tried to leave a comment on my seemingly popular post about Tiffany from SNSD by leaving a link to an online petition for Tiffany anti-fans for SNSD to disband. What the heck? Seriously, people need lives. If the commenter is reading this, your comment went into my spam folder where it belongs. I personally don’t care about Tiffany or SNSD and while I am an advocate for free speech, I do not want to endorse childish stupidity or bullying when there are so many more serious issues that need the efforts of petitioning.

In other news, has anyone else noticed the increasing reunion tours/concerts/album productions by old disbanded groups? First it was the Spice Girls, and then it was Jewelry (yes, I’m jumping across nations here), then it was X-Japan and now it’s New Kids on the Block. When the Spice Girls first stated that they were going to have a reunion tour I thought to myself, who would be stupid enough to go see them. Well, I found out that there were many stupid people in the world including some of my friends. All I have to say to that is oiy! I didn’t care much for Jewelry and I found their debut song really annoying and sickeningly catchy. I was looking forward to the X-Japan tour and I was hoping to see them in New York if I could get tickets. So much for that. NKOTB…I actually came to Canada just after their craze had died down so I wasn’t really there for their initial hype. Their song Summerdays is really catchy (damn those catchy pop songs!) and I wonder if they will have the same success as the Spice Girls. Anyway, that is all. =)

Episodes 1-8 of We Got Married have been subbed and are available for downloading and streaming. I received this link through a commenter. Thanks Hind! The epsiodes are cut into three parts (all high quality) and they have English hard subs. Thanks subbers and uploaders! CLICK HERE FOR THE DOWNLOADS

You can also read up on the recent news concerning the show at Coolsmurf’s Domain. He has quite a few articles about Solbi and Andy’s promotion of the show, including the latest news of Solbi leaving a drama she’s been acting in by having her character resign due to her upcoming marriage to Andy Lee. Really, they are shamelessly milking their fame through the show, but I guess artists just have to do anything to stay on top.

I’m also excited to see Alex and Shin Ae’s reunion episode. They have already filmed it and will be shown on June 8. Boo! I won’t be here to watch it (I’m going on a trip for two and a half weeks). Oh well, it’s worth waiting for. =)

Park Myung Soo’s Digital Singles

I don’t know if this is old news but I just found out that Park Myung Soo has released two digital singles. His last musical contributions were in 2005 with his single, Tra la la, which was a cover of Gunther’s Tra la la. I was going to put up a link to the original but the video was quite pornographic. So anyway, the two new releases are called 바보에게…바보가… (Paboege… Paboga…) and Rock Factory. You can listen to them HERE and download the MV for the first song HERE. I actually like Park Myung Soo’s music. Sure he’s not musically talented in a Kim Jong Kook kind of way, but it’s entertaining. And he makes me laugh. Just to be random, here is a clip of him that always cracks me up. He’s the one wearing the shades.

[edit]I just found out from Coolsmurf that Park Myung Soo and his wife are expecting their first child. I can’t believe PMS is going to be a father. I’m so happy for him and his wife. =D [/edit]

Rain vs. Stephen Colbert Dance-Off

Written by: Kazuma

This story isn’t exactly recent, but for those who missed it — myself included — here is the video. This little dance-off took place on May 5, 2008, a conclusion to the Rain-Colbert feud. If you haven’t heard of the feud, keep reading this post.

The feud began last year when Rain defeated Comedy Central’s faux news host, Stephen Colbert, in Time magazine’s online poll of 2007’s most influential person in the world. This resulted in a little back-and-forth smack talking between Colbert and Rain — which included Colbert making his own K-pop video, and Rain responding by telling Colbert to not “quit his day job.”

To settle their battle over world dominance, Colbert challenged Rain to fly to NYC and to appear on the Stephen Colbert’s show, so the two can have a dance-off. Being a good sport, Rain actually flew in, and the rest is history.

Too bad neither of them topped Time’s list this year though. So who was the ultimate winner of 2008? None other than Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind Mario and the hugely successful Wii console. Rain and Colbert ended up being second and third, respectively, on the list this year — yes, Rain still beat Colbert.

This whole thing has been pretty good publicity for Rain, who is trying to enter the US market, and Korean entertainment in general. It’s a shame People Magazine couldn’t get a right photo of Rain in their recent issue — are people that retarded?

Anti-Tiffany (SNSD) Wave

I’ve been noticing the increasing anti-Tiffany sentiment on the net (on English sites). Hmm…interesting. I’m not particularly a fan of SNSD or any of its members (although I do like the leader since she actually has singing potential), but I definitely wouldn’t call myself an anti-fan. I find the term anti-fan an oxymoron in the first place, but that’s besides the point. I don’t really see why there are so many people who hate Tiffany. There was even a recent post on ShenYuePop! that was an overtly anti-tifanny post that basically listed all the bad things about Tiffany. Seriously, woah! Most of it was just summarizing what the latest rumours about Tiffany were, but some of the personal input was quite laughable.

The article stated that SNSD are “talent challenged…who sell worthless music, labeled under “virgin” and cute unmarried girls image, contradicting it by wearing super short skirts and not hesitating the chance to reveal their panties to the world.” An oxymoron? Of course. Can the Korean music industry really sell chastity? I highly doubt it. What I don’t agree with in this article is the author’s omission of other groups. Isolating SNSD as the only group who falls into an oxymoron is just uncalled for. Most of the SM artists aren’t very talented and even if they are, the majority of their popularity is due to superb marketing and other means of buying their fame. It’s called capitalism people. Everything is done for profit and not for the sake of talent, art, or craftsmanship. SNSD is no different than any of the other SM groups-their popularity comes from selling their image. What group aren’t whoring their music? They all sell their bodies for profit. And it’s not just SM artists. Tae Yang and Wonder Girl’s new image? Whoring. It’s part of the industry. Why are some artists picked on when it is the industry and people who buy into it that are at fault?

TVXQ To Debut In The U.S.?

I had not heard any news about this until now. Apparently Lee Soo Man, the founder of SM Entertainment, has future plans for TVXQ/DBSK and BoA to debut in the U.S. At a recent press conference he stated that they were not yet ready and they will focus on expanding their careers in the Asian market before attempting to break into the States. Dang, I didn’t see this coming. I had heard about BoA planning to eventually debut in the U.S. but not TVXQ. For some reason I don’t see them being able to do it…their music style isn’t favourable in the current music scene. They would definately have to revamp their image and come off as less of a boyband. I’m sure this won’t happen for a few years anyway, but I guess they’re going to be practicing their English? Who knows.

P.S. I FINALLY got my categories to list alphabetically. W00t!
