Anti-Tiffany (SNSD) Wave

I’ve been noticing the increasing anti-Tiffany sentiment on the net (on English sites). Hmm…interesting. I’m not particularly a fan of SNSD or any of its members (although I do like the leader since she actually has singing potential), but I definitely wouldn’t call myself an anti-fan. I find the term anti-fan an oxymoron in the first place, but that’s besides the point. I don’t really see why there are so many people who hate Tiffany. There was even a recent post on ShenYuePop! that was an overtly anti-tifanny post that basically listed all the bad things about Tiffany. Seriously, woah! Most of it was just summarizing what the latest rumours about Tiffany were, but some of the personal input was quite laughable.

The article stated that SNSD are “talent challenged…who sell worthless music, labeled under “virgin” and cute unmarried girls image, contradicting it by wearing super short skirts and not hesitating the chance to reveal their panties to the world.” An oxymoron? Of course. Can the Korean music industry really sell chastity? I highly doubt it. What I don’t agree with in this article is the author’s omission of other groups. Isolating SNSD as the only group who falls into an oxymoron is just uncalled for. Most of the SM artists aren’t very talented and even if they are, the majority of their popularity is due to superb marketing and other means of buying their fame. It’s called capitalism people. Everything is done for profit and not for the sake of talent, art, or craftsmanship. SNSD is no different than any of the other SM groups-their popularity comes from selling their image. What group aren’t whoring their music? They all sell their bodies for profit. And it’s not just SM artists. Tae Yang and Wonder Girl’s new image? Whoring. It’s part of the industry. Why are some artists picked on when it is the industry and people who buy into it that are at fault?

Second, it is just really immature to even mention the company that Tiffany chooses to affiliate with. What does her friendship with Jessica Ho have to do with anything? Should we go back to our fifth grade mentality and believe that we can judge a person’s character by their friends?

Third, this whole “don’t insult your sunbaes” is just stupid. I understand respect and responsibility, but just because someone is older than you does not mean that they should never receive criticism. Has anyone heard the story called The Emperor And His New Clothes? Everyone around you can tell you that what you are doing is fabulous, but sometimes you need to hear the criticism to improve yourself. If sunbaes are constantly receiving praise then it just perpetuates the idea that it’s not your talent that matters but your status through money, power, and/or domination.

Just to clarify, I don’t particularily like Tiffany. I’ve never really spent much time getting to know her or any of the other SNSD girls. My criticisms are directed towards the stupidity for isolating her rather than looking at the overall problems with the Korean music industry.

I totally agree with the last line you said.
I don’t know what is with sheunyepop and their undying hate towards Tiffany O____O’ Sure, she may be a little ditzy at some points, but that was major bashing in her post ^^

I personally hate SNSD’s current image right now. It’s WAY too overly cute and exposing (does that make sense)? No wonder they have so many guy fans hahah.

I’m not a big fan of SNSD either, but honestly I hate people who ONLY bash at them just because they’re under this one company label some just happen to hate. I think they’re wayyyy better in talent wise than Wondergirls (then again, that’s just my opinion).

and WHAT the heck is up with Wondergirls new image? o____O;

Your third point is moot. Do you not know anything about Korean culture? It is EXTREMELY RUDE to insult your sunbaes. It’s the rudest thing you can do in Korea. And Tiffany didn’t give constructive criticism, she just insulted him. How does saying that someone sings like a “goat” = constructive criticism? She has insulted LEGENDS of the Korean music industry and she’s part of a group that hasn’t even been out for more than 10 months and will most likely never ever reach the legendary status as the people she has insulted have. FYI, she still hasn’t apologized to Shin Hye Sung.

SYP is overly anti-Tiffany and not very fair, but think about it: if she hadn’t said what she said, her group wouldn’t be in such deep shit. Her group wouldn’t have been booed by 50,000 people at a concert. I’m not an SNSD anti; I actually like some of them, but it’s really sad to see Tiffany dragging all of her group down the drain with her cause she can’t watch her mouth. Don’t you think that she has seriously offended a lot of people if every single fan club in that stadium booed them at the dream concert?

To Hmm: First, I do understand that it is rude to insult your elders in Korean culture. That is what I am criticizing. The same principle occurs in my parent’s culture and I have had to deal with it most of my life. I believe it is ridiculous and stupid. Respect should be earned not ascribed.

Second, my third point was not directed towards Tiffany’s situation specifically. I was taking issues out of the recent criticisms against her and critiquing the concepts sustaining the criticisms. Hence why I was making the point that ascribed respect hinders growth and genuine talent in the entertainment industry. I was neither justifying or criticizing her actions.

[…] Someone tried to leave a comment on my seemingly popular post about Tiffany from SNSD by leaving a link to an online petition for Tiffany anti-fans for SNSD to disband. What the heck? Seriously, people need lives. If the commenter is reading this, your comment went into my spam folder where it belongs. I personally don’t care about Tiffany or SNSD and I am an advocate for free speech, but I don’t want to endorse childish stupidity like this when there are so many more serious issues that need the efforts of petitioning. ShenYuePop has to be one of the most biased piece of shit that I have ever had the misfortune to come across.

Honestly, those bitches there running the circus at SYP spew more bullshit than FoxNews, Ann Coulter, and Bill O’Reilly combined. I can bet you my house right now that those bitches have VIP club memberships to elf and cass.

Respecting your elders is a tradition in some countries and is not stupid. Yes, sometimes respect needs to be earned, but that should apply when that person did something that is not worthy of respect.

In regard to disbanding SNSD. That’s just kind of odd. They should just disband when they want to. I heard about petitions to disband them. It’s not like their a threat to the country or anything.
