Back in TO

mood:
listening to: Phantom of the Opera - Music of the Night

I am back in Toronto now. I do miss being in New York, but it's nice to be home after four months of being away. This is the first time I've been in our new house since my family moved. It is a nice house, but there are a lot of stairs.

There are many things I will miss about NY, like the transit. Although it's dirty and on weekends it's confusing, it is way better than TTC. I will definitely miss shopping in NY. Shopping in TO is just not the same. =P One thing I won't miss about NY is trying to squeeze through the tourists on Fifth Av. =D

I will be going to Waterloo for the Spring term next week. I can't believe school is starting so soon. I do look forward to seeing many people I haven't seen in a while though.

$courses=~s/CS 486/CS 448 /ig

mood:
listening to: S.H.E - Yes I Love You

I have made the switch to CS 448 (Databases) in place of CS 486 (Artificial Intelligence) for the upcoming school term. Although I think AI would interest me more, DB is going to be changed to two courses starting this fall. So this is the last term that I can take it before it changes. I think AI is offered during the winter, so I can take it then.

Stuff For Math Nerds

mood:
listening to: Sammi Cheng - Wrong Again

I just stumbled across this page on math humor. It is quite funny. Anyone who is in math will enjoy this one.

From the page - Definitions of Terms Commonly Used in Math:

CLEARLY: I don't want to write down all the in-between steps.

TRIVIAL: If I have to show you how to do this, you're in the wrong class.

OBVIOUSLY: I hope you weren't sleeping when we discussed this earlier, because I refuse to repeat it.

RECALL: I shouldn't have to tell you this, but for those of you who erase your memory tapes after every test, here it is again.

ONE MAY SHOW: One did, his name was Gauss.

Check it out if you like math. =_o

Happy Easter!

mood:
listening to: Hiro - Delicious

Happy Easter (aka Resurrection Day) everyone! Let's not forget what this day is all about... no, not cute bunnies and chocolate eggs -- although I do like bunnies and chocolate eggs. Today we Christians celebrate and remember the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Indeed, without the resurrection we would still be our sins.

I attended the Easter service at Redeemer Church I loved the service! I will miss this church when I leave NY. I usually don't like big churches as much because you don't get to meet as many people... but this church has really great service, and a great senior pastor in Tim Keller. You really don't come across pastors like him very often.

Today, Tim talked about the resurrection. (On Easter, so what else is new? =P) He based his sermon on the passage found in 1 Corithians 15, where Paul is talking about what the truth of the resurrection (or the untruth) would imply. Tim said something which I thought that I haven't really thought about before. He said that Paul believed in Jesus because Jesus was the opposite of what Paul wanted. It wasn't that Jesus was fulfilling that Paul followed Him, but because He is undeniably the Son of God! To accept Jesus meant that Paul had to abandon his world view and his own righteousness... and that is not something that is easy to do. The reason we all should believe in Jesus is not that He is fulfilling to us, but we have to believe because we know He is the only way to salvation. Fulfillment will follow because we are in the truth, but that should not be the reason for our faith.

Google Calendar

mood:
listening to: L'arc~en~Ciel - Link

Google Calendar (beta) has just launched! I think this is a great new tool that Google has added to their site. I use Outlook at my workplace, and it has a Calendar built-in which is very useful for scheduling meetings with people.

With Google Calendar, you can let your friends view your calendar and you can view theirs. It just might make planning and outting that much easier. =)

Come on people, sign up and start using it! I've already entered a few items for the next week.

What is this world coming to?

mood:
listening to: Claude Debussy - Claire de Lune

If you had told me a decade ago that Microsoft will be supporting Linux/*nix, Apple will be running on x86 machines and support dual-booting with Windows, and Sega Genesis games will be on a Nintendo console, I would not have belived you. o_o;
