Heroes: Victoria Pratt

November 28th, 2007

Just thought I’d say that the actress (Jaime Ray Newman) that played Victoria Pratt in 1977 on this week’s Heroes episode is hot! Why can’t they get her to be a regular on the show? :P

Heroes 2×10 - Truth & Consequences

November 26th, 2007

Now, that was a good Heroes episode. Sylar is back with the rest of the season one cast! I feel Sylar hasn’t really fit into this season at all. It’s almost as if his role this season is irrelevant to the main plot. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong with next week’s season finale.

There are a few things I didn’t really get. Adam Monroe (aka Takezo Kensei) told Peter Petrelli earlier that if he (Adam) could be killed, then The Company would have done that. However, this episode he claims that getting shot in the head is something that he (nor Peter) can recover from. Maybe The Company didn’t kill him, not because he couldn’t be killed, but because Adam is a valuable research subject. And Adam lied to Peter in order to get him to go along with him.

Actually, didn’t Peter die in the future, due to the Shanti virus? At least that’s what we were told when Peter travelled into the future. But I thought that he had the same healing power as Claire and Adam? Perhaps the virus is so powerful that even he couldn’t heal from? Or maybe Claire’s (and hence Peter’s) healing power isn’t as potent as Adam’s.

I’m pretty psyched about next week’s episode, Powerless. A battle ensues pitting the Petrelli brothers against Hiro and Matt Parkman. What I’d like to know is why Nathan and Peter would all of the sudden willingly fight against Hiro and Matt. Why would Peter trust Adam over Hiro? I guess we’ll find out next week how everything unfolds.

“Save the cheerleader, save the world”

November 8th, 2007

I was thinking about what the future Hiro said during the first season of Heroes in the context of the second season. When future Hiro appeared to Peter on the subway train, he told Peter to save the cheerleader (who turns out to be Claire Bennet), in order to save the world. It was pretty clear later on that the reason Claire had to be saved from Sylar is because if Sylar obtains her healing abilities, then he would be unkillable — thus Hiro’s thrust to his chest would not have done anything.

Now, in season two, we find out there’s an even bigger catastrophe that’s about to be unleashed into the world. The Shanti virus that strips Heroes of their abilities, as well as eventually killing them, will mutate and infect all human. This results in 97% of the world population being wiped out. And guess what? The only person, according to Bob from The Company, that can save the world from this epidemic is none other than Claire.

Maybe when future Hiro said to Peter, “save the cheerleader, save the world,” he wasn’t referring to the incident with Sylar and the NYC bombing. After all, preventing the NYC bombing isn’t really saving the world. At least from what we’ve seen the season one’s “future” episode, the bombing seem to be affecting the US, but we don’t know what happened with the rest of the world. But this new virus thing will wipe out most of earth’s population. And we also have rumors that the badass, future Hiro will once again make an appearance in season two. Maybe he’ll shed some light into what’s going on, and perhaps the future Hiro has seen a lot more than we thought he did in season one.

Writer’s Guild of America Goes on Strike

November 6th, 2007

The Writer’s Guild of America is now on strike. That means there will be no new scripts written for the TV shows in the US. I can’t imagine how TV will be like when they run out of new episodes for the current shows. Re-runs and reality shows… it’s not going to be a pretty sight.

The thing that sucks most is that the second season of Heroes will be cut short, and there’s some speculation that the current season of Heroes might be ending with the episode that is set to air on December 3rd (source: Heroes Fanatic). If that’s the case, I hope the finale won’t feel too rushed. And I hope that the WGA and the networks can work out a new contract before all TV goes to heck.

Talking about Heroes, was that an episode tonight or what? By far the best episode of season 2 so far! And from the preview for next week’s episode, my hopes are getting high. :P

Heroes

May 22nd, 2007

Did anyone see the Heroes season finale last night? Wow. Definitely one of the best season finales I’ve ever seen! Not to mention one of the best shows that ever played on TV! If you haven’t seen it yet… what is wrong with you?! (Just kidding) But I don’t want to spoil anything for those that have not yet seen the finale, so stop reading if that’s you. :)

I must say that I was a bit disappointed that the fight between Sylar and Peter didn’t last that long. I was looking forward to an epic battle between the two super-mutants. And the way Hiro “killed” Sylar was a bit anti-dramatic. When Hiro was running towards Sylar to stab him shouldn’t Sylar be able to stop him with telekinesis? I mean, that’s a good 1-2 seconds for Hiro to run to where Sylar was standing, and you can’t tell me that Sylar did not have enough time to react. What I think should have happened is for Sylar to raise his hand to try and use telekinesis against Hiro. But then Hiro stops time and the next thing you see is Sylar with a sword through his body. With that aside, it was still a very good episode. And it seems that Sylar survived that “fatal” stab by Hiro. Perhaps he was able to study the cockroach and become resilient like it? Was that also how he was able to fake his death when he was captured by Primatech?

I can’t wait for the next season to start. I’m glad that the end of season one didn’t exactly end on a cliffhanger. Yes, the ending left you guessing what will happen next, but there was closure for all the major things of season one. Go Hiro!
