What Have I Been Doing?

August 5th, 2008

It’s been a really long time since my last post. Just haven’t had the urge to blog these days. It’s getting really busy at work with a bunch of different projects. That probably adds to my laziness when I get off work.

No, I’m just kidding. I’ve been doing quite a bit in the past little while actually. Aside from the regular house cleaning and cooking tasks, Ams’ and I have started planning our wedding. We even set up a little wedding blog for it!

You might notice the wedding blog is a Django site (so says the little button at the bottom). It’s coded by yours truly, Mr. Jack Hsu. I’ve actually released the code on Google Code with the New BSD License. So if you have Django running somewhere and wanna check out the blog app, please feel free to do so. It’s still a work in progress, and I’ve been working hard the last week or so to get the code ready for public consumption. The documentation is coming along as well!

I <3 Django!

New Look!

October 31st, 2007

I just spent 3 hours designing and implementing this new style and layout for my blog. Hope you enjoy it!

I haven’t tested it on IE6, and I don’t plan to. If you still use that dinosaur browser then you deserve to see crappy content on the web. However, I do believe this blog should render properly in IE6 anyway. =P

Project 365: Take a Photo a Day

March 22nd, 2007

I came across Project 365, which is created by Taylor McKnight. The rules are simple, take one photo everyday for one year and create a photo-blog for an entire year. It looks pretty fun, but unfortunately my digital camera is dead — I dropped it by accident — and I have not gotten a new one. Maybe when I do go out a buy another camera I will try this thing. I love looking at pictures and remembering the story behind the pictures.

Holy Spam Batman!

March 8th, 2007

I haven’t blogged for a while, nor have I managed my comments. I logged in today only to find more than 500 comments awaiting moderation (spam filter caught them), so I wasted no time in deleting them all with a press of a button. Then I go to view the comments that did go through, and had to manually delete 100 or so comments that the spam filter did not catch. It sure was a pain, and now I think I should install another spam filter, maybe one with Bayesian inferencing.

So school has been pretty busy. (more…)

Wordpress’ Spam Filtering

October 27th, 2006

I’m pretty happy with Wordpress. I got three emails today asking me to moderate comments, and it turned out that all of them were spams from someone trying to make money. Wordpress has a spam filtering option for commenting, so before it is posted it’ll be held for moderation. Pretty cool. I hate spams! >=(

A Change of Address

September 16th, 2006

I’ve been meaning to get my blog hosted on a paid server for some time now. The UW server doesn’t allow many scripting language, and doesn’t provide any databases. Plus, I don’t think we get to keep our space when we graduate from the university… thus the change is inevitable.

I will make a link to the old blog available once I setup Blogger to make the blog available on their server. (For archival purposes)

I hope everyone will enjoy this new space that I’m blogging at. It only took me half-a-day to set it up. ;)

Current Mood: happy happy.
