Starting Wedding Plans

July 2nd, 2008

Ams and I started plans for our wedding. Ugh. It’s so troublesome! Why does it take so much time and money to have a wedding? I hope everything will go alright and we won’t be too overwhelmed!

We’re thinking about setting up a website for our wedding. Maybe some blog posts and stuff. Could be a chance for me to experiment with Django. I can link it up toe del.icio.ius and flickr so we can make micro-blogs. :P

Happy 2008!

January 1st, 2008

The holidays are over now and we’re in a new year! I just want to say Happy New Year everyone!

Ams and I had our engagement party this past Friday (December 28). It went well, and I hope everyone had fun. I’ve uploaded some photos on facebook.

New iGoogle theme

December 8th, 2007

I was checking out the new themes added to the iGoogle page. For those of you who don’t know what iGoogle is, it’s a personalized version of Google which you can add widgets and choose themes.

Anyway, the theme I’m using right now is called Seasonal Landscape. It’s quite cute, and for some reason the ladybug and the frog reminds me of Ams and I. The frog would be me and the ladybug would be Ams. Look at the screen shot below. :P

Don’t hit that bottle from the top!

December 8th, 2007

I remember this one time at Bramalea City Centre with Ams. We were eating lunch at the food court, and this guy was trying to shake his bottle of iced tea by hitting it. However, instead of hitting the bottle from the bottom, like you’re supposed to, he hit it from the top. The result? The bottle shattered instantly at the bottom.

Today I came across this page talking about how to blow the bottom of a beer bottle. Apparently the pressure from the rushing liquid is enough to break the bottom completely off. I guess when you hit the bottle from the bottom, the metal lid at the top prevents the bottom from breaking?

New layout for Ams’ blog

December 7th, 2007

I finished making a new layout for my fiancee last night. I’m really proud of it, and apparently she likes it too — which is what matters. Since I’ve been working at the Globe, there has definitely been an improvement to my skills working with CSS, especially the understanding of rendering quirks in IE6. *cough* IE6 sucks *cough*

Go have a look yourself!

4 Year Anniversary!

November 17th, 2007

It was Ams and mine 4 year anniversary on Thursday (Nov. 15th). I took Friday off so I could go to Waterloo and visit her. We were looking at some old photos of us, and oh man I can’t believe we used to look like that. I’d say that we look much improved since our first date four years ago. What did she see in me at the time? heh :P

Weekend in Waterloo

July 23rd, 2007

I went to Waterloo with Ams this past weekend. It’s weird to be back and not have school. :( Ams went there mainly to check out some apartments with her new roommate for the coming school year. It was pretty tiring going around to see all the different places, and one of them was a really long walk from WLU/UW campus. She did see one apartment that she liked so hopefully she’ll be able to get that.

We went to Morty’s on Saturday night and had some food + beer. Hmm, pizza and beer, what can be better? :p

Summer is going by pretty fast. It’s already the last week of July! I was watching the weather forecast today and there is a heatwave warning for this week, stretching into the weekend. I think the forecast on Sunday was something like 29 degrees Celsius, and feels like 40 degrees with humidex. Oh man, I don’t think I want to be out this weekend. I’ll probably just bum around the house with the A/C on.

Homemade burgers!

July 10th, 2007

My blogging frequency has been pretty low for the last little while. I’ll try to change that, but it’s hard to get into the mood to blog nowadays, with work and all.

This past weekend I was over at Ams’ place. We had BBQ for dinner on Saturday, and we made our own burgers! It turned out quite well. It’s always more satisfying to make your own food. And even more satisfying when it turns out well. =P

This week so far has been pretty blah. The weather has been just horrible! Very very hot and humid. Oh, will it just rain already!

On further news, I bought Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. Only played about an hour today, and it’s pretty scary stuff. And I haven’t even encountered any zombies yet! Gah!! Those stupid farmers have some high resillience to bullets. Three shots to the head with a shotgun and they are still running at me with an axe. What the heck! >.>

Weekend in Boston

July 3rd, 2007

I went to Boston with my family and Ams to visit Grace this past weekend. Yeah I know, we didn’t spend Canada Day in Canada.. boohoo. =P

It was a lot of fun, and I bought an entire outfit (plus shoes!) all for pretty cheap. The great thing about Boston is no tax on clothing — as long as it is under $100 I think. Plus, with the soaring loonie, buying stuff in USD is very very cheap. Ams got a pair of boots that she really likes too!

We spent most of the time walking around doing sighting seeing. We did eat out at several restaurants. One thing I learned is that if a restaurant has no lineup going into it, even though other ones do, it probably means the restaurant is very pricey! Yes, we did go to a restaurant like that. Grace, Joyce, Ams and I wanted to check out a seafood restaurant, but there was a lineup, and it was starting to rain. So we thought, hey let’s go to that restaurant that has no line! Well, at least the food was good!

Ams wants to go to Boston again to do more shopping. She’s trying to buy more mature clothes and stuff now. =P

Ams is Back!

June 3rd, 2007

Ams came back from Europe last Thursday, and came over on Friday. Went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean III on Saturday. I saw it earlier, but she hasn’t. She enjoyed the movie, so it’s good. I’m less forgiving about nonsensical plots and cheesy moments, but I will say that it isn’t bad — just not that great. She got me some Lindtt chocolate from Switzerland. My favourite so far is the dark chocolate. I love dark chocolate.

Last night, the Cavs won the Eastern Conference series against the Pistons. I’m very glad they won, as I don’t like the Pistons that much. The Cavs have a really good attitude, and that’s what won them the series. After game 2, the Cavs made no excuses for losing the game, even though there was the bad call at the end. Instead they just came out and played hard. This is what the Suns should have done against the Spurs, instead of just complaining about dirty plays. I wish the Cavs best of luck in the NBA Finals. I think they have a chance to win the title, but it will be very hard.
