New Look!

October 31st, 2007

I just spent 3 hours designing and implementing this new style and layout for my blog. Hope you enjoy it!

I haven’t tested it on IE6, and I don’t plan to. If you still use that dinosaur browser then you deserve to see crappy content on the web. However, I do believe this blog should render properly in IE6 anyway. =P

Monica Dawson Has Sharingan?

October 16th, 2007

When I first read about the newest hero on NBC’s hit TV show, Heroes, I thought her powers were a bit on the lackluster side. Monica Dawson’s power is described as being able to replicate any physical motion she witnesses. When you compare that power to the others on the show — bending the space-time continuum, spontaneous regeneration, flight, … — it just doesn’t seem all that cool. But then I though, where have I seen something like this before. Oh, that’s right, the Sharingan! Those that are familiar with Naruto (an anime) will recall the sharingan is an inherited trait that those in the Uchiha clan possess. Those with the sharingan can, among other things, copy/replicate any physical motion they witness.

I wonder to what extent Monica can copy motions. Can she fly if she witnesses Nathan flying? I doubt. It’ll probably be restricted to purely “normal” physical motions. Wouldn’t it be cool if she can copy abilities with her eyes, like how the Sharingan copies abilities? But then again, I don’t think Heroes needs yet another ability-copying hero (ahem, Sylar and Peter).

I’m Engaged!

October 8th, 2007

I proposed to Ams this past Saturday. She had no idea it was coming so it was a big surprise. I took her out to eat at NAMI Japanese restaurant for dinner, and then I took her back and played a song I wrote for her. Even though we had been ready for engagement for quite some time now, it was pretty emotional. The “big date” isn’t set yet because we don’t want to start planning for the wedding until she’s done her masters. We’ll think of ideas for the wedding in the meantime. For now though, the big news is we’re engaged!
