Why I Hate the Spurs

May 15th, 2007

I just finished watching game 4 of the Suns-Spurs western conference semi-final. I must say, I did not expect the Suns to pull that one out — as much as I would have liked to believe they would. I’m very glad the Suns managed to win 104-98 when it seemed like everything was going the Spurs way.

Did anyone see the body-check Horry had on Nash? That was a dirty play! Not that I’m surprised that it happened since it seems that it is how the Spurs plays these days. Bruce Bowen is a dirty player. You can talk about his great defensive plays all you want, but in the end I think Amare is right in calling Bowen out. And did you see when Robert Horry tried to pull Stoudemire in game 3 to make it look like Stoudemire commited the foul (to get him his 5th foul)? To me — and I think many would agree — the Suns should have won game 3 if the refs made the right calls.

Another reason why I don’t like the Spurs is because they are simply boring to watch. Sure, once in a while Parker or Ginobili would make an entertaining play, but overall the Spurs are old, slow and boring! I don’t care how good Tim Duncan is at the fundamentals, I don’t watch NBA basketball to see lock-out games with textbook plays. I want games to be high scoring and exciting. What’s the point of watching NBA basketball if they are not fun to watch? I really hope the NBA Finals would not come down to a Spurs-Pistons matchup. The last time that happened I didn’t even watch any of the games.

So here’s to Nash and the Suns. I hope they come out on top in the series against the Spurs. The win in game 4 should be the turning point for them. Spurs had everything going their way and the game’s pace was in Spurs’ favour, but somehow the Suns kept it close and pull off a win in the end.

Yeah, I just saw the game, and man that was a crazy forearm check by Horry! Man that was so dirty!
Horry may be a clutch shooter, but he’s also a dirty and cheap player.

I just watched the highlights of the game. I can’t believe how disgusted I am by watching everything transpire. Bruce Bowen has proven over the years, how much of a terrible person he is by trying to injure players. The NBA is the one to blame, through all of this. He should have been suspended multiple times in prior incidences. The kick to the face against Wally Sczerbiak in 2002 Playoffs. (Watch that on youtube.com. you will think he is a complete asshole.) The multiple attempts to injure with his scissor kick defense. (which is taught to many young players.) He has hurt multiple people this year, and in the past. His kick to Ray Allen’s back. The latest to come, is the Amare Stoudemire incident. If that isn’t intent to injure someone. I don’t know what is. (also on youtube.com) It is absolutely appauling that the NBA hasn’t suspended him. It almost makes you think what will it take? Who will be the one to point the finger when he does end someones career. And then to top it off, on command Robert Horry gives a blatant body check to Steve Nash. He is going to receive a suspension, the unfortunate part is, so will Amare Stoudemire. Amare came running off the bench. That is an automatic 1 game suspension. Another win for the spurs. Almost makes you want to vommit?

What I don’t understand is how the league can suspend Kobe and not Bowen. Intentional or not, Bowen is a hazard to other players on the court and there needs to be consequences for playing dirty.

NBA should be ashamed of itself. Their decision to suspend more suns players then spurs players is absolutely insane. The NBA is a second rate league with clowns running the show. Way to go Steve Jackson your nothing but a bum.
