Unblocking MP3 Transfers in Live Messenger

October 30th, 2006

I’ve been using Windows Live Messenger (WLM) for a while now, and one annoying feature I’ve noticed is that after a MP3 file is transfered, it shows some message saying that Windows has block the potentially harmful file. And once you click the “OK” button Windows deletes the file. I can understand blocking executable files and the like to prevent malicious code from being executed, but MP3 files? I mean, why is MP3 blocked but WMA not? Moreover, how many harmful files exist with the extension MP3? O_o

Anyway, I found this site with steps to remove MP3 files from being blocked by WLM. :)
