The weekend in Montreal was pretty crazy. Peter drove Grace and I there. We left Toronto at 4:30 PM on Friday, and got to Montreal at about 2 AM. The traffic was very bad all the way to Oshawa, and then we had some detours and construction hold-ups on the way to Montreal. Oh, and the signs being in all French didn’t help. :P
I noticed that a lot of people smoke in Montreal. Almost everywhere you look there is something smoking. Also, they named their Provincial Library and Park the “National” Library and Park. I guess they still want to separate from Canada.
We didn’t get to see too much in Montreal. We went to the shopping district, and I couldn’t find any souvenir shops there… So I couldn’t get Ams a postcard or any souvenirs. I think Old Port would have them, but we couldn’t fit in time to go there.
The wedding was good. Almost everyone from the groom’s side are from out of town. I got to see and talk to some people I haven’t seen in a while, and got to meet new people. That’s what’s fun about weddings. :)
The banquet was fun. About half of the people at my table were people I haven’t met. I met this guy who studied his masters in Toronto, so he actually knew some people from the Taiwanese churches (he played in the softball league). Oh, and I saw one of Theresa’s old piano students. I remember those recitals. =D
I was pretty beat when I came back home, so I took a nap. I would definitely like to go back to Montreal again and go explore more.
