I Miss CS

October 1st, 2006

I’m taking Philosophy 100 this term, and it’s very different from all the other courses I’ve taken in school thus far. It’s taking a while for me to get used to the course, but I hope I can get the hang of it soon because I need a high mark in it. ;) Now I’m thinking that I should have taken Sociology 101 instead (which ironically is the course I dropped during first year, which made me have to take a DE course). If I take Soc, I can get help from my girl Ams… she is majored in it. :P

The work term is going great so far. Programming is pretty fun, as long as you’re not stuck with something that doesn’t have clear specifications — now that is headache @_@. Originally I wanted to do my masters in statistics so I can get a stats job, but now I think I will be happy with a development job after I graduate. Besides, this way I can get a job when I graduate and save up money for a ring. Ams really needs to do her masters for the field she is in, and it wouldn’t be too great if we both went for ours at the same time.

Current Mood: nice happy.

SY101 is one of the more tedious sociology courses. So much info that’s more theoretical and historical than anything else. The 3rd and 4th year courses are awesome. I’ll definately help you. You can even use my first year book. I still have it =_=. Btw, I don’t need a masters. I just like learning =P. Well, an MA would increase my pay and help me get a job more easily especially since I’m a visible minority and a woman. *shakes fist at racism and sexism*

I like learning as well, but I don’t think its necessary for me to spend another 2 years in school to go for my masters. As a computer scientist, you have to keep learning constantly, or else you’ll fall behind. So that’s enough learning for me. :P

School isn’t just about the academic. It’s about building social relations and social networks as well as becoming bart of an academic community. :p

Hahaha, should have taken Sociology 101 instead eh?
    “The ironing is delicious” =P

Ams: Yeah it is, but who’s to say you can’t have that in a workplace with like-minded people?

Peter: Haha, yeah gotta love ironing.
