T’was a Nice Day for Ballin’

May 30th, 2007

I just got back from playing some hoops with my co-workers. The weather was super nice today. The sun was out, but it wasn’t hot. Nice breeze in the air. Perfect for basketball! I think the next time I’ll head back to the office to change and wash up a bit in the washroom though. I felt hot and sticky commuting back home after ball. I actually dropped by Shoppers to by Axe deodorant because I think I smelled.

I’m looking forward to the weekend. Luminato starts this Friday! I think there are some free events at Harbourfront, and some Monty Python show called “Not the Messiah” also starts Friday, which costs only $15 if you get the Rush Tickets. Ams is back tomorrow, I have no idea what time because she never told me. I’ll have to see if she can do stuff this weekend. It would be nice because I haven’t seen her for a month.

Aboriginals Calling for Boycott of Tim Horton’s

May 30th, 2007

A teenage staff member at a Tim’s Horton’s posted a racist poster that reads, “No Drunken Indians Allowed.” Furious First Nations resident are now calling for a Boycott on the coffee shop. (story here)

While I think the action of the teenage is stupid and wrong, I don’t agree with the boycott at all. It was an action of one individual that acted independently of the corporation. If it was a business decision by Tim Horton’s to put up that poster then I would agree with the boycott. But come on! I know the First Nations are outraged, but don’t react by doing something just as stupid. The teenager in question should be fired, and that’s the end of that.

Tiffany & Co. in Toronto

May 30th, 2007

There’s a Tiffany’s in Toronto? I did not know that. Very interesting… I checked their prices for rings and they’re actually not that expensive, as long as you don’t get the brilliant cut diamonds.
