Heritage

Jack doesn’t talk much about his heritage or what it means to him. I’ve come to think that it doesn’t mean as much to him than mine does to me. Wow that sounds so snotty, but that’s honestly what I’ve concluded. Recently though he has dropped random things my way that make me step back and reanalyze my conclusion. He mentioned the Taiwanese festival in Toronto a month ago, and the other day he talked about mooncakes. It may not seem like much but this is the most that I can he has done…really. His parents aren’t big on a lot of Chinese traditions, which is fine. But could it be that Jack is starting to take more interest in his heritage or was I quick to dismiss his silence? Hmm…I hope I can learn more about his heritage through him than through wiki. I am definitely going to attend the Taiwanese festival next year.

Things That I Want

I don’t know if I’m going out of my mind because of this 20 page paper I have to write on the torture in Abu Ghraib, or because I’ve been living in my room for the past three days straight. Well…the two are obviously related. A pefect example of my temporary insanity. Seriously, this topic is very emotionally draining. It is sad to say, but I can’t wait until I’m done thinking about torture so that I can start on my 20 page research proposal. Yay =_=…WHY WON’T THIS TERM END?!!!

Anyway, I just needed to do something besides read about torture so I’m going to list things that I want.

  1. This term to be OVER!
  2. My legs to stop hurting from sitting and reading for the past three days.
  3. More chocolate! Jack brought me chocolate the last time he was up and I finished them. Oh how I miss thee, Lindor chocolates. So deliciously smooth and creamy…yum. ^_^
  4. A delicious glazed donut. Like the ones I had in Boston.
  5. To finish watching Hana Kimi (Japanese version) with Noops.
  6. To have better bangs. I think I will cut them myself this time. O_O!
  7. Gotta think of a seventh thing since six is such an ugly number. Oh! Post-it notes that actually stick! Useless dollar store brand. >_>

4 Year Anniversary

Today is Jack’s and my fourth year anniversary. He took tomorrow off from work and is heading up tonight. So happy ^_^. We’re going to go to the Vietnamese restaurant that we went to on our first date. I still remember how I almost flipped the table that night. Haha…why aren’t tabletops attached its legs? >_> Anyway, hopefully the rain won’t crap up our night so that we can reminisce about when we were young and head over heels in love. =P

I’m a little freaked out. I was searching for information on David Seljak to look up his publications and my blog came up as the sixth result. WTF! Firstly I didn’t think I got so many hits for it to pop up on google so fast, and secondly who is reading my blog? This really freaks me out. I think I really need to censor what I post about. I even edited my previous post because the wording gave the wrong perception of my excitement. I really hope having a blog doesn’t come to bite me in the butt later on. O_O!

And…I decided to take my Hello Kitty charm off my phone because I’m scared it will fall off. *le sigh*

[edit] I just got a tracker, so I CAN SEE YOU! MWAHAHA! [/edit]

Hooray! After a good 15 minutes of struggling, I finally got my hello kitty charm back on its ring. Maki’s dad brought us some cell phone charms (I don’t know if that’s what they’re called) from Kyoto when he came to visit her a few months ago. I picked a special Kyoto edition of Hello Kitty in a kimono. So cute! I was really sad when Hello Kitty fell off the ring a few weeks ago and I couldn’t figure out how to put her back on. Well, I struggled and endured some chips to my nails, but I did it. I’m so happy now. =)

This picture was obviously taken in early October, but I didn’t want to take a new one. =P

Chopsticks

There is something very satisfying about eating rice with chopsticks. I’m usually given a spoon or a fork whenever I go to a Chinese, Japanese or Korean restaurant. I don’t blame them. The first time I went to a Korean restaurant was before I knew how to use chopsticks and I struggled to eat my blackbean noodles with two spoons (those long-ass soup spoons you get at Korean restaurants, at that). The waitress politely asked if I wanted a fork, which I was grateful for. I was still very shy at that point and actually conversing with someone I didn’t know scared the crap out of me. Now that I’ve learned how to use chopsticks, I have more than any sane person needs. Although, my fiance’s family has an entire drawer full of them in their kitchen.

One of my roommates had never really seen chopsticks before in her life (surprise, surprise) and I showed her how to hold and use them. She couldn’t stop laughing. At the time I didn’t know if I should feel insulted or if I should just brush it off as another part of her childish insensitivity. She still doesn’t believe how useful they are. Her loss, I guess. Sometimes though, I wish I could use them to stab certain people in the eye…but I’m sure that breaks some rule of chopstick etiquette.
