Hotashi

I think I mentioned previously that I’ve moved back to Waterloo until the end of August to work on my research. Well here I am living in my three-bedroom student apartment all alone. Ok that’s a lie - my hamster is with me too…and two house plants. But I’m pretty much alone since Tokki sleeps for the majority of my awake time and the plants are just plants. Jack came up this weekend and we hung out for a few days (long weekend) but other than that the place has been empty.

For the time I have been alone it has been weird getting into a pattern of living alone. Having people live with you definitely shapes your habits. For instance, when my two stupid roommates lived here with me I would try avoid going outside my room when I knew they were out there. Why? Because if I wasn’t asked really stupid questions I would get sucked into a socially awkward, brainless and/or ridiculously boring conversation. And then there is also the issues with rotting food. Personally, I like to avoid that.

Now that I’m here alone I’ve been wondering how to conduct myself. For instance, is it still inappropriate to not close the door when you’re on the can? Nobody is there so is it a big deal? Should I let my dishes pile up until I feel like washing them since I won’t be inconveniencing anyone? Can I take up all the room in the fridge without seeming like a hog? I know some of the answers might seem straight forward but since I’ve always had to share my space with other people, I have never had to question when such social norms are null. Null or nullified? Anyway, it’s weird. I took a piss with the door open…it felt so wrong.

I don’t know if I’m going out of my mind because of this 20 page paper I have to write on the torture in Abu Ghraib, or because I’ve been living in my room for the past three days straight. Well…the two are obviously related. A pefect example of my temporary insanity. Seriously, this topic is very emotionally draining. It is sad to say, but I can’t wait until I’m done thinking about torture so that I can start on my 20 page research proposal. Yay =_=…WHY WON’T THIS TERM END?!!!

Anyway, I just needed to do something besides read about torture so I’m going to list things that I want.

1. This term to be OVER!
2. My legs to stop hurting from sitting and reading for the past three days.
3. More chocolate! Jack brought me chocolate the last time he was up and I finished them. Oh how I miss thee, Lindor chocolates. So deliciously smooth and creamy…yum. ^_^
4. A delicious glazed donut. Like the ones I had in Boston.
5. To finish watching Hana Kimi (Japanese version) with Noops.
6. To have better bangs. I think I will cut them myself this time. O_O!
7. Gotta think of a seventh thing since six is such an ugly number. Oh! Post-it notes that actually stick! Useless dollar store brand. >_>

It’s December! November went by so quickly. I can’t say I’m not glad. November was such a busy month. Jack is out tonight clubbing with his friends for some of their birthdays. I wanted to go but I had to finish up a paper…stupid school. I honestly can’t wait until I finish this paper because the other things that are due after aren’t as stressful…well I hope they aren’t.

A happy thing just happened to me a few minutes ago. I called out to Tokki and he came to me. Sure I was holding a raisin, but that’s besides the point. Before it didn’t matter what I would have given him because as soon as he sees me he would run for his life. I am slowly making my way into his heart. Hehehe! Isn’t he a cutie?

This is the maple tree behind my room that I talked about before. Thankfully when I made this picture smaller, you can’t even tell that I didn’t move the screen mesh out of the way. Hehehe…shh, don’t tell anyone. I love my tree. It’s so soothing to look at and just daze off into. It doesn’t look like this anymore because of the crazy wind we’ve been having. It’s almost completely naked now. Oh how winter is sneaking up…I can feel it already.

I really need a new coat, too. I’ve had to layer like mad the past few days because the wind is so nippy. Hopefully I can pick one up this weekend when I go home and save myself another week of sickness. I’m not sure what kind to get though…I definately want to keep with my goal of having a more mature look. But…I don’t know what would look good in a semi-casual way. Plus it’s always hard to find my size, so I can’t be too picky either. I wonder what’s in style these days. I don’t keep up with anything now, especially since I don’t have a TV.

I came across a video of Froggy (my previous hamster) today when I was looking through pictures. It made me really miss him. It’s not that I don’t like Tokki (my current hamster), but Tokki doesn’t interact with me the way Froggy did. I know it’s silly to miss a hamster this much, but I really do miss him a lot. I wish I could hold him again, or at least have a better goodbye.

Don’t you hate it when your camera re-sets itself to take megahuge pictures? Now all my recent pictures are about 1MB each. Why would I need pictures that big unless I wanted to make a wallpaper or something. And all I have is shitty Microsoft Paint to resize. Grr >_>. Anyway, the day after I got engaged I dyed my hair for the first time. It had nothing to do with the engagement. It just so happened that I planned to dye it the day I got back from Jack’s place. Anyway, on to the pics! I found the first pic amusing, so that’s why I posted it.

I don’t actually wear my hair like this. The red is on both sides as an underlayer so that red sometimes peeks through under my natural hair. The red is really vibrant in natural light. I think it looks cool. The flash doesn’t do it justice though. Oh, and look! It’s me with Tokki! He’s so cute. ^_^
