Applying For Jobs

Author: Ams
09 2nd, 2008

I applied to a bunch of jobs today online. I’m hoping to actually have something when I finish my program (which *crosses fingers* will be at the end of this month). Most of the jobs are not in my field, will not be what I want as a career or will be fully utilizing my skills. But I need money. I also need to update my wardrobe and get more office friendly clothes along with some career shoes. The question is, how much money should I spend on that. Anyone want to nominate me for What Not To Wear?

Creepy Guy At Work

My family is coming up to Waterloo tomorrow so that we can all go out for lunch. I’m really looking forward to it. When I was growing up, my family didn’t do things like this. The only time we went out to eat was randomly to McDonald’s, and that was usually because we were travelling and got hungry. They are also going to take me to the mall so that I can refill my printer cartridge and order a dress for Jack’s and my engagement party. I was planning on doing this yesterday, but it was Buy Nothing Day and I was determined not to buy anything. I am very proud of myself, especially since I was craving a bag of cheese puffs at work. Saved myself $1. =P

Speaking of work, we had an incident with a suspicious man. He had approached a young woman at Starbucks while she was purchasing something (no! it’s buy nothing day!), and he kept asking her for her number. After refusing and leaving the store he followed her to our work place (which is the campus recital hall) where there was a concert. I was working the at the concession stand. Before the concert and during intermission he made his rounds to all the ushers (who were all young women) and asked them if they had a boyfriend. He did this to me as well, which I didn’t think much of at the time since the conversation started out like just a friendly conversation. I was then approached by one of the ushers who was trying to warn me about how he has been asking the other ushers about their personal life, to which I told her he did the same to me. He was then asked to leave, which he did, but since nobody escorted him out we didn’t know if he really left the campus.

God Is My Hero

Even though lately I’ve been a complete asshole and have treated God like utmost shit, I still run back to Him when I need Him and He accepts me everytime. I am definately the prodical child.

My lectures went well, thanks to God. He really calmed my nerves and helped me to do my best. Whenever I think to myself “just do your best for God” all my worries fade away. I’m grateful for that. Call it what you will, but it works and I know it’s all because of Him. I didn’t freak out at all when I had to set myself up and found the console locked or when the computer froze and I couldn’t have powerpoint slides. It felt good not having to worry. I’m happy. =)

I’m going home this weekend for Jack’s and my Dad’s birthdays. Should be fun. I’m pretty sure my mom misses us (my sister and I) like crazy so I will spend some quality time with her. I’ve been needing a new coat, so we’ll go shopping for that tomorrow. *squee* Can’t wait. Gotta pack. Have a great weekend everyone!

I got my first batch of marking to do last night. There were SO MANY! Just over 200…it was not fun carrying them to the office. I started marking some this morning. All I have to say is wow. It’s amazing how creative people are when it comes to flushing marks down the toilet. And I don’t care how much people make fun of keeners. I love them now. Having everything in order and labelled just makes me want to hug them. The more I go in this program, the more I feel the want to become a professor. But let’s see what I think after I lecture next week…*gulp*

Last night I hung out with my classmates. It was quite enjoyable…especially since drinks were involved. We first went to a sociology social on campus, which ws awkward. Everyone else there were undergrads and the atmosphere was a bit…dry. We walked in and we knew instantly that we should have just done our own thing. Ah well, free food! And after we finished eating everything, we went back to one of their houses to hang out. Good times. I’m really starting to enjoy not being in my house all the time, although I do feel bad for Tokki. I hope he doesn’t feel like Im neglecting him. =(

Like the title says, I had my last class of my undergraduate career (assuming I won’t come back to upgrade). It was a memorable class. Firstly my prof was especially happy today - not too sure why. Maybe she had a shitty term too and is relieved it’s over. Either way it was a bit weird. Secondly I’m sick, so I felt like crap sitting there and trying to pay attention. And randomly my asthma started acting up and I had to use my puffer during class o_o. I hate that…people just stare. And thirdly, my friend in that class was a mess because she found out that she didn’t get into some of the teachers colleges that she wanted to, and her cousin passed away yesterday. She’s had a pretty tough year with things, so I tried to give her some encouragement. Anyway, there isn’t a real point to this paragraph besides that my last class was memorable.
