Out For Korean BBQ
Author: Ams
Hello everyone. I’m back! The trip was great, the weather wasn’t as bothersome as I had been warned about, and the jet lag is death. Ok, the last part is an exaggeration. I got back on Thursday and then spent the weekend with Jack rather than trying to recover from the trip. Tsk tsk to me. He just got his first place so I was helping him clean it up on Saturday. I think I’m more excited about it than he is, but I’m sure that once it sinks in he will be excited too. =P
We went for Korean BBQ over the weekend to Korean Grill House which offers an all you can eat menu. Can’t go wrong with that. We were seated next to three men who were enjoying their meat very much. I was baffled by their conversation though. I always thought the dialogue by men that was depicted on commercials advertising meat products was complete BS until I heard these men talk. It was the most stupid, senseless comments about the goodness of meat and grilling meat. One part went something like this:
Guy1: Meat is good
Guy2: Grilled meat is good
Guy3: Oh yes, grilled meat!
Guy1: Spice it up!
Guy2: Then it’s a totally different meal.
All: HAR HAR HAR
Guy3: Yeah, meat is good.
-and repeat-
Jack and I just looked at each other like we were scared that such stupidity was contagious. I remember at one point Jack and I started talking about computer challenged people and I shared some stories my cousin told me about his experiences working in the Dell call centre (in Bangalore). As we were poking fun at such people, especially people who type with two fingers, the men next to us grew quite silent and just stared at their meat. I wonder if they were computer challenged people. Haha, well the definately won’t be reading this if they are. LOL

I’m going on a trip with my family to India for two and a half weeks. I doubt I will be posting from there so I will see you all when I get back. Ja!
Update
Author: Ams
Je suis tired so I’m going to write in points.
- 1. I suck at updating. Sorry! I’ve been relaxing after Masters terms of hell. I went home after I was done my last paper and I don’t feel like blogging from there for some reason.
- 2. The wedding was good and the cake was delicious. There were a few awkward moments which I am still trying to figure out. Check my FB for pics.
- 3. I’m leaving for India in a week. I’ll be gone for two and a half weeks with my family. I’m looking forward to it, despite the fact that it will be monsoon season. UGH!
- 4. I got a cute new pair of flats. If my camera wasn’t le shit I would post a pic. They were on sale too. Yay! =D
- 5. Jack got back safely from his Asia trip and he had a great time.
Hopefully I will post before I leave. If not, take care and I will write when I get back. Ta ta!
Going To India
Author: Ams
This summer my family will be going to India for a couple of weeks. I haven’t been there in almost ten years. It’s my paternal grandmother’s 80th birthday, so hopefully as much of our family can make it back for that. It will be really special. I can’t wait. ^_^
I’ve been in a pretty good mood lately. I think it has to do with me FINALLY finishing the second draft of my research proposal and the good weather. The past few days have been AMAZING! Around 12 degrees, which feels warmer in the sun. I wish Jack and I could enjoy it together. It would have been nice to take a few walks together. Sometimes I wonder what our lives will be like after we get married. We’ve had a long-distance relationship for 4 1/2 years and I’m used to living on my own. I hope it won’t be too hard to adapt to living with another person…who isn’t a roommate.
I also want to get a new haircut. I’m really tired of looking ‘cute’ and I want a more edgy haircut. Not necessarily shocking, but not something that isn’t mundane and boring. I need to start using better hair products too, because that makes all the difference. Actually, I think I want to change up my entire style. I think I’ll get some more vibrant eyeshadows and play with those a bit. For the past two years I’ve been wearing the same gold eyeshadow…it’s gotten to be a safe choice. So yeah, hopefully I will have time to do all this. We’ll see how much work I will have to do on my third proposal draft. =P
Back From Ottawa

I went to Ottawa this past weekend with some of my fellow grad students. It was a lot of fun. I finally got to go inside the Parliament Buildings and the Peace Tower, which were both super cool. I had my heart set on signing up to receive the flag that’s flown on the Peace Tower but apparently I can do that online. WTF! I waited all this time to go to Ottawa just to find that out?! So annoyed! Plus, the waiting list has increased from two years to five. ARGH! Anyway, I took a lot of cool shots which my FB friends can enjoy once I upload them. =)
One thing that did suck though was that Sunday (which is the day we travelled back) I fell sick and I felt completely crappy today. I was supposed to work on my presentation tomorrow but I just couldn’t function. I currently have a slight fever and have lost my voice. *sigh* I hate getting sick, especially this year. Before when I got sick I could always count on my roommates to be there for me. Now I have nobody. It’s quite depressing actually. It’s times like these when I get homesick…not for my family home, but for my roomie home.
