Hotashi

I just had a house meeting with the roomates. Apparently they were really (and I mean REALLY) offended by me putting up two notes in the house. One note had been about cleaning the stovetop after cooking and the other was to clean up their rotting food (one of them left a bag of tomatoes on the table and they were rotting for a good month before I found them…yummy). So apprently I’m really rude for doing that. I told them that I thought it was rude that they need me to remind them to clean up after themselves. They were pretty defensive about that denying things that they have done. Yeah, it was not too pretty for the most part. Overall they are upset that my relationship with them is too formal. They got pretty upset when I said that we are just roommates and it’s not the same to live at home than living with each other because we’re all supposed to be equal here. They interpreted this as I am trying to avoid them by using notes so that I don’t have to become their friend. Umm…wtf?! Aside from whether I want to be their friend or not (which I don’t think anyone would blame me for not wanting to be their friend), why should it matter if a roommate doesn’t want to be your friend? Is it THAT big of a deal? Just accept it and move on. But no, I broke their hearts when I said this. And these are people that I’ve only known for two months. I don’t think they really understood the points that I was making. They were probably too emotionally charged, or too self-absorbed…or possibly just stupid. So yeah…I live with very emotionally needy people. And seriously, I can’t really give them what they want…which I’m not even sure what that is. Umm…help! What am I supposed to do?
